At Fiera Milano Exhibition Centre in Rho from 1 to 3 October THE MAIN EVENT FOR THE RAILWAY INDUSTRY IN ITALY PRESENTS THE MOST IMPORTANT NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN THE SECTOR AND OFFERS A MEETING OPPORTUNITY FOR INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS Milan, 5 September 2019 – Less than a month now to go to the new edition of EXPO Ferroviaria, the only showcase in Italy for railway technologies, products and systems. October 1st will see the start of the event dedicated to the international railway industry, in Pavilion 1 of Fiera Milano in Rho. Countless new developments will be presented by leading operators over the three days, confirming the appeal of the event and the key role the sector plays in the manufacturing economy. Among those operators will be Alstom, making its debut with the new brand identity “mobility by nature” and presenting its innovative, sustainable solutions for mobility. Among the many new developments presented will be Coradia iLint, the first train in the world – already transporting passengers in Germany – to be powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, which produces electrical energy for traction. Hitachi Rail SpA will be at the event with a full-size mock-up of the new High Capacity regional train “Caravaggio”, destined for high-traffic lines, which will start running in the Lombardia region in May 2020. Also on show at EXPO Ferroviaria will be a full-size mock-up of a wagon complete with cabin and head. For the first time, Standler Rail AG will be presenting the model FLIRT DMU created for FNM Group, which will be part of the framework agreement signed for the supply of 50 trains equipped with diesel-electric and hybrid battery technology, for high-energy-efficiency regional transport. The new trains for FNM/FERROVIENORD are developed with an eye on social and ecological sustainability. On Tuesday 2 October, the event will also host the European “ERCI Innovation Award 2019” ceremony, where at the DITECFER stand, recognition will be given to the best European innovations developed within the ERCI Railway Technological Districts by a Large Enterprise (European finalists include Bombardier, Siemens, SNCF and Capgemini) and a SME. The European Jury Prize “Coup de Cœur” will also be presented. So far over 270 exhibitors have registered, from 25 countries, including returning exhibitors and many new names on the Italian and international scene. The exhibition space in Pavilion 1 will welcome some 100 new companies taking part in the event, including players such as ABB SpA, Italy’s Lucchini RS SpA, CRRC Corporation from China, Capgemini from France and other major names in the industry such as Plasser&Theurer, Vossloh Locomotives, Thermit Italiana, Colas Rail and JSW Steel Piombino, Wabtec, Knorr-Bremse, Hitachi Rail STS, Vossloh and ZF Italia. EXPO Ferroviaria will comprise a packed programme of conferences, seminars, technical visits and presentations by the exhibitors, which will enhance the visitor experience with debates and authoritative opinions on technological trends. These will include, on Tuesday 2 October, the presentation organised by Hyper Poland “The future of railway revitalisation: from magrail to hyperloop”, how to shift goods transport from road to rail? Hyper Poland’s innovative magrail technology ensures that the rail industry and its users can benefit from technological progress by implementing solutions inspired by the hyperloop, as a means of updating the current railway infrastructure. In addition, the conferences organised by Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (Italian State Railways) “Presentation of the 10 years of the Sustainability Report and the 2030-2050 Objectives of FS Group” and by FerPress in collaboration with ASSIFER (Railway Industry Association) and CIFI (College of Italian Railway Engineers) “Two drivers for the efficiency of transport 4.0 –Training: cost or investment – Maintenance: a necessity or a virtue?”. The technical visits will take place in the railway in the Fiorenza Trenord railway depot and on the premises of Alstom in Sesto San Giovanni. Part of the exhibition space has been assigned to the infrastructure area, highlighting the importance of this sector within the industry. Partner of the infrastructure area is D.R. Ferroviaria Italia. The platform area, where products and equipment will be showcased, will be the key feature of this section. The show partners of EXPO Ferroviaria 2019 represent both suppliers and leading national and regional operators of the Italian rail service. These include Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, FNM Group, Trenord, FerrovieNord and for the first time also UNIFE – the European Rail Industry Association. Among the exhibition partners representing suppliers will be ASSIFER – the Rail Industry Association, ANIAF – National Association of Railway Construction Companies and ANCEFERR – National Association of Railway Constructors, as well as ASSTRA – Association of Regional and Local Public Transport and CIFI- College of Italian Railway Engineers.
