The session moderator Vladimir Nelub took welcome participants with opening speech. He noted that the Forum is carried out in the third time and gathers leading specialists in materials science and composite sector from all over the world.
«In this year the Forum is held in online form and still gathers on its platforms scientists, industrial partners, public authority and teachers, students of specialized educational fields in new materials sector», - said Mr. Nelub.
For effective development of digital material science Для эффективного развития направления цифрового материаловедения the Government of the Russian Federation approved the road map for the development of the high-tech area «Technology of new materials and substances» on April 27. This was preceded by the Agreement between the Russian Government and Rosatom, signed in July 2019. The basis of the road map was the support for the development of the four most promising technological trends.
Director of the Department for the Development of the Research and Production Base of the Nuclear Weapons Complex of Rosatom Mr. Andrey Shevchenko told about that.
He noted that on 2024 it is planned to redact substantial technological gap of Russian Federation in this sector. Russia can be among world technological leaders in 2030.
Undoubtedly, the complex scientific and technical approach will help the industry to be competitive, ensure the technological sovereignty of the Russian Federation in the aircraft, oil and gas industry, shipbuilding, energy and others.
Director of the Department of Innovation and Advanced Studies of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Vadim Medvedev told about instruments of support tools for approaches towards to new materials directions.
The Complex research and technology program (CRTP) «New composite materials» is developed and forwarded to RF Government for approval. The aim of this program is to create commercial demanded technologies for new composite materials in Russia. According to Mr. Medvedev complex programs are saved and will be continued as one of realization form of the Strategy of research and technological development of the country.
«Holding scientific research and implementing of developments form technological leadership of country. The level of effort that we offer will together will lead Russia to headline player in the market of new materials», - noted Vadim Medvedev.
In its projects the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation cooperates with other organizations and individuals, such as the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
«We support common activity, streamline participation of enterprises in the 218 Мы поддерживаем общее дело, стимулируем участие предприятий в 218 by the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, we cooperate with the Ministry of Culture of Russia, ASI. We modernized the program for creating engineering centers. We also expanded amount of potential participants of this program. «Now universities subordinate not only to the Ministry of Education and Science, but also to other organizations can join it; we have also increased the grant volume for this program» said Vladimir Pastukhov, Director General of the Agency for Technological Development.
Ministry of Education and Science and Ministry of Industry and Trade found common language and it means that direction of digital material science will develop dynamically. Therefore, the necessary staff will need, which are not enough so far. Anatoly Alexandrov, Rector of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, and Alexander Mazhuga, Rector of the Mendeleev Moscow State Technical University, told how they plan to develop science and education in this field.
«Education in leading universities that deal with specialists preparation in material science sector is inherent from studying and application of digital technologies. The key to success in this sector is complexity of education with focus on «digit». Of course we will expand everything what is connected with IT-industry. But for us the most important is not just educate «simple programmer». It is important that digital technology is also owned by the people who create the product. And when we're trying to create a material with predefined properties - which is a big challenge - it's important to combine the correct digitalization of our specialists and a deep knowledge of the basic physical processes they are involved in» said Alexandrov.
For its part Alexander Mazhuga, Rector of Mendeleev RCTU, drew attention to the fact that the key to training a full-fledged specialist in this field is the interaction of specialized universities with each other, as well as with the Russian Academy of Sciences and representatives of business.
«Key to success is a cooperation between universities, Academy of Sciences and business. Need to know material properties, but it is necessary to think about product. When we talk about the last, it is need to come into partnership with our colleagues. Surely we develop such cooperation with Bauman’s university. This will be extremely useful both from the point of view of personnel training and project implementation. If we are talking about educational trajectories, they should be verified by the business, as we produce specialists primarily for the real sector of the economy» RCTU rector said.
Representatives of industrial sector also noted the importance of specialists’ readiness who must be ready for real production tasks. In fact, application of digital technologies and implementation of composite materials play important role in good manufacturing.
«Digitalization is of great importance for industry. Thanks to digital material science, we replace real tests with virtual ones. This is especially important for extreme conditions» said Mikhail Gordin, General Director of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise «Central Institute of Aviation Motor Building named after P.I. Baranov».
At the same time, Anatoly Gaidansky, General Director of AeroComposite, noted that digitalization is just a superstructure of production, without which it would be impossible to work. However, the basis is the material itself. As representatives of aviation industry we must understand what characteristics of materials, from which we will create products in 10-15 years and what characteristics we will lack. It is also requiring to set clear objectives to the Government, industrialist and scientific society.
In the material science sector institutes and industrial enterprises cooperate with the Russian Academy of Sciences. For this purpose, the RAS Scientific Council on Materials and Nanomaterials was established.
«The institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences have always been concerned with the problems of creating new materials. This is an interdisciplinary industry, with completely different applied institutes. It should be noted that the Scientific Council includes both representatives of business companies, legislative and executive authorities, scientists. They discuss the problems and tasks that the industry is currently facing and conduct not only fundamental research in the field of digital materials science, but also develop applied solutions based on them», - said Sergey Aldoshin.
The materials science industry also takes into account global trends, such as the introduction of artificial intelligence.
According to academic Igor Kalyaev from RAS without artificial intelligence and super computer technology to create materials is impossible.
«Approach to such issues should be very careful. Artificial Intelligence is a system that builds algorithms to solve problems and create new materials. This process is based on machine learning methods, when the system itself analyzes large amounts of data and, based on these trends, generates new solutions. But here, there is the problem of explanatory intelligence and trust in these solutions. How to explain how the system made the decision and how to prove that it is the optimal solution. These are the tasks that we will also solve and lay the foundation for such fundamental work in various fields when creating new composite material» - noted Kalyayev
At the end of plenary session Mr. Vladimir Nelub asked all participants to create an industry of digital material science all together and invited to take part in seven scientific and practical sections
«It’s just beginning! » - he noted.
In the frame of the III International Forum Key Trends in Composite: Science and Technology the Composite battle 2020 took place. In which five teams took part. First place went to the team of MSTU named after N.E. Bauman. Then the prizes were distributed as follows: second place - Chuvash State University named after I.N. Ulyanov, third place - MISIS
«Composite battle — is the one of the most interesting events in composite materials world which has been held annually from 2015. Participation in such competitions young professionals can compare their skills, to find out something new, higher their professionalism. This is a unique environment and symbiosis of both active brain activity and demonstration of knowledge in practice. This year for the technological competition, where it was necessary to form a product by vacuum infusion, we used, among other things, the unique development of our Center «Composites of Russia» - educational board. I am very happy about Baumantsev's victory and congratulate the winners of the championship! Besides, I would like to express my gratitude to the Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs of RUSNANO Group for the support in organizing the championship» - said Vladimir Nelub, Director of the Composites of Russia Center at Bauman Moscow State Technical University.2020-11-17

Holistic model of the formation of requirements for freight cars on the example of the “Northern Latitudinal Railway” project
In the context of economic integration, an important factor is increasing the efficiency of rail transport. It depends both on the quality of the transportation process as a whole and on the quality of its individual elements. It is especially worth highlighting the rolling stock, and in particular freight cars, since it is with the car along the route that labor-intensive technological operations are performed, including shunting, technical and commercial maintenance, unscheduled repairs, as well as starting and finishing operations — loading and unloading. Therefore, the efficiency of freight transportation does not depend to a small extent on the quality of cars.
In this regard, the article highlights the results of the development of a holistic model for the formation of requirements for freight cars that increase the efficiency of the transportation process, taking into account the features of specific transportation conditions. In this case, a holistic model is applied to the conditions for the export of freights from fields in Western Siberia along the routes of the Northern Latitudinal Railway project.

Development of the system of rationing and accounting for performance indicators of long distance and commuter train schedules for railways and the network as a whole
Currently, rationing and accounting of performance indicators for long distance and commuter train timetables for railways is carried out on the basis of the principle of “achieved level”. Methodology for calculating indicators based on objective conditions for organizing operational work on each railway has been developed. The generalized indicator characterizing the objective conditions is determined by the authors on the basis of an analysis of a set of factors, which include: loading of the railway infrastructure by train traffic; technical and technological state of infrastructure and rolling stock; risks associated with a possible delay of trains during the period of providing “windows” for the repair and reconstruction of infrastructure devices; number of passenger train stops; climatic conditions; technological discipline for fulfilling the traffic schedule (it is assumed to be the same for all railways); risks of violation of timetables on lines with dense train traffic. Dependencies for determining the numerical values of the factors are proposed. Taking into account the weight coefficients of each factor, the estimated indices of the objective conditions of the operation of each railway for long distance and commuter traffic are determined. The network task by the level of execution of schedules is distributed by railways in proportion to the values of their estimated indices.
The transition to the proposed system of rationing and accounting for the performance of timetables will help to improve the quality of performance of the train schedule, to ensure a positive image of the Russian Railways in the field of passenger transportation. The use of the proposed methodology for determining the target indicators of the schedules of long distance and commuter trains ensures that the real conditions of the transportation process on each railway are taken into account at the planning stage and allows an objective assessment of the quality of the organization of operational work based on the results of the fulfillment of planned targets.

Features of mathematical modeling of dynamic processes of car passing railroad turnouts
Dimensions and tolerances in the “wheelset — railway track” system are interconnected, since the normative values of geometric parameters and shape of the elements of the wheelsets and the track's upper structure are directly dependent. In 2018 –2019 in order to establish the minimum permissible thickness of wheel flanges for freight cars in operation and to determine the influence of the thickness and shape of wheel flanges on the safe passage of turnout elements, JSC “VNIIZhT” conducted comprehensive studies, including the development of a methodology and mathematical modeling of the interaction of wheelsets and turnout elements. Features of modeling the dynamic processes of the entry of the first bogie of a freight car into the railway turnout when running to the side track are presented. The process of moving a freight car along the turnout is described depending on the geometric parameters of the wheelset and track elements of the turnout, the position in the gauge of its first bogie before running into the switch point. Results of calculations of the lateral forces of the interaction of the wheelset and the turnout show that when running on, the maximum forces occurred during wheel impacts in the turnout elements, which depend on the conditions of the bogie entering the turnout. The initial position of the bogie and the peculiarities of its motion in the gauge determine the position of the meeting point and the value of the angle of incidence, their combination determines the maximum value of the force when moving to the lateral track, which, depending on the entry conditions, can differ by more than twice. Calculations showed that a change in the angle of inclination of the flange from 60 to 70° leads to a decrease in the safety factor of rolling stock on the turnout by 1.5 times. Required minimum value of the inclination of the wheel flange, ensuring safety (qR parameter), is determined by the creation of conditions that do not allow the wheel to run onto the tip of the switch point. Under existing norms of wear of turnout elements and the relative position of their rail elements, as well as taking into account the results of the calculations, the permissible value of qR should be in the range of 6.0 ... 6.5 mm.

VESTNIK OF THE RAILWAY RESEARCH INSTITUTE, 2020, NO. 2
On the process of interaction of technical stations and hauls when passing train flows
The issues of traffic intensification on railway lines are always of high relevance. The throughput and carrying capacity of the railway line is determined by calculation on the basis of analytical dependencies, however, as in previous periods of the development of railway transport, currently, certain directions experience serious difficulties in passing train flows. At the same time, accepted calculated indicators of the throughput capacity of such lines do not allow to objectively determine the causes of difficulties in passing train flows and to develop the necessary solutions to overcome them. Railway infrastructure can be divided into several enlarged elements: sections, inlet and outlet necks of technical stations, pick-up and drop-off parks. This article does not consider power supply devices, locomotive facilities, performance of which changes less dynamically. Based on the research and experience in organizing the passage of train flows on one of the busiest railway lines of the Trans-Baikal Railway, the authors attempted to identify the main factors affecting the throughput and carrying capacity of freight-intensive directions, as well as to justify the need for integrated approaches in analyzing the throughput of a railway line with the interconnection of its main constituent elements and the definition of limiting. The article discusses in dynamics the interaction and mutual influence of the indicators of the main elements of the railway lines, as well as the analytical dependencies that allow to interlink the indicators that determine the throughput of individual elements of the railway line during their interaction. The results of analytical calculations are consistent with statistical indicators of the operation of railway lines in real operating conditions. With this in mind, significant dependencies between stages and technical stations were determined.
